Intravenous Concious Sedation

Relaxed Patient Having Concious Sedation Completed

For some people a trip to the dentist can lead to anxiety even fear. Generally, a bad dental experience in the patient's past leads them to feel apprehensive about continuing dental treatment. Sometimes this fear keeps people from visiting the dentist for a very long time, often leading to bigger problems. It is normal to have a little bit of dental anxiety but what if you could come to the dentist take a nap and forget that the appointment even occurred? The only way you will know you were even at the dentist is that you will have a beautiful, healthy smile when you get home. IV sedation can help you accomplish your dental visits with no pain or fear.

What is IV Sedation?

Intravenous (IV) Concious Sedation begins with an initial consultation appointment to make sure that you are a candidate for the sedation process. Even if you have previous cardiac conditions, you can be a candidate for sedation. This option allows us to have direct access in case of an emergency and helps us to manage your conditions while you are in the dental chair. After it is determined that you are a candidate and what work is needed, you come to your appointment in comfortable clothes and a friend or family member to drive you home. Once you arrive at the office, the sedation team will start the nitrous oxide for you. Then they will begin an IV. Most patients do not remember much, if anything, after this point. That is why this is a great option for people with dental fear. Once the IV sedation has begun you will enter into a twilight level sleep.  IV Sedation is lighter and safer than general anesthesia. During the entire process we monitor your vital signs to ensure your safety and comfort. At Atlanta Dental Spa your comfort is of upmost importance to us.

If you are interested in sedation but have a fear of needles we also offer oral concious sedation.
